This beautiful Vintage Gerber Mark 1 was made circa 1980 tracked by the serial number #123144.  The knife comes with the original leather sheath, still in excellent condition.  This knife came from a private collection and is in Mint condition.  The blade shows a few  minimal marks from being removed from the sheath.  The blade appears to have never been used and does appear to retain the original factory sharpening.  These specific serial numbers of these items were produced between 1976 and 1981.   The tilted handle of the sword for the logo always points to the time period.  Tracking by the number produced each year, this model is from circa 1980. This series of the Mark 1 included L6 high carbon steel, an aluminum handle, and a leather sheath.  The serial numbers were numbers only, no letters were used during these years.  The aluminum handle is 4 inches long. It is one piece and features a lanyard hole at the base.  The knife originally came with a leather sheath that was outfitted with a clip designed for boot carry.  This clip is more rare as it is blued in color, but as the others in this time period it contains Gerber , Portland, OR and the zip code.  Many of the clips on the sheaths for the Mark 1 were non colored steel.
