GABA is one of the main inhibitory neurotransmitters in the body, which act to calm the nervous system. Suntheanine® is a patented, pure form of l-Theanine, a unique amino acid originally found in tea. Both GABA and l-Theanine have been shown to enhance alpha wave production in the brain, promoting relaxation and moderating stress. In an open trial, GABA promoted alpha waves and moderated beta waves within one hour of administration.

In a preliminary study, l-Theanine enhanced alpha wave production in the occipital and parietal regions of the brain, an indicator of relaxation, without causing drowsiness. l-Theanine has also been shown to moderate the effects of caffeine on the central nervous system, further demonstrating its role in promoting relaxation.
