Vintage 1950's Japan Made - Tin Plate M.F.D Friction Fire Engine With Automatic Pop-Up Extendable Ladder With Bell - Fantastic Condition In The Original Box. Released in the 1950's as part of a series of friction drive Tin plate Emergency Vehicles. This fantastic Tin Plate Fire Engine measures a massive 14 inches long by 3 inches wide by 4 inches tall and sports a red Tin Plate Body with Silver trim and the features include - Friction Drive, Automatic Pop Up Ladder when the lever is pulled, Extendable Ladder which extends to 18 inches long, Automatic Bell which rings when the ladder is being raised and Six Tin Plate Fireman attached to the side of the Engine. The fire engine is in fantastic condition, and was part of a Toy Museums Tin Plate display for many many years before closing down and the toys being sold. The body is in amazing condition with no visual signs of any wear, the silver items have discoloured some what, which was normal with these types of toys, but other wise its fantastic with the ladder, bell and friction drive all working perfectly, but does need a little bit of a clean as it has collected some dust. Comes in the original box which is also in very good condition, but has lost the end flaps at one end of the lid. A truly wonderful vintage toy from over 70 years ago.
