GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION • Keep your work area clean and well lit. Clutter and unoccupied work areas can result in accidents. • Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, where flammable liquids are stored, or where gas or dust is present. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust and fumes. • Keep children and bystanders away from your work area while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. • Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Do not modify the plug. Do not use adapters with grounded power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock. • Protect power tools from rain and moisture. Water entering a power tool increases the risk of electric shock. • When operating power tools outdoors, use only extension cords suitable for outdoor use. Using an extension cord designed for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. • If operating a power tool in a damp environment is unavoidable, use a residual-current device (RCD). This reduces the risk of electric shock. • Exercise caution while operating and handle power tools with care. Never operate a power tool while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. A moment of inattention may result in serious injury. • When handling rough materials or changing tools, wear appropriate personal protective equipment and clothing, such as hearing protection, safety glasses, a dust mask for dusty jobs, and gloves. • Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A tool or wrench left attached to a rotating part of the appliance can cause injury. • Wear appropriate clothing; do not wear loose clothing or jewelry. Keep your hair, clothing, and gloves away from rotating parts. Loose clothing, jewelry, and long hair can become entangled in rotating parts. • Do not operate a power tool with a broken switch. A tool that no longer turns on or off is dangerous and must be repaired. • Keep unused power tools out of reach of children. Do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or persons who have not read the instructions to use the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of inexperienced persons. • Before starting work, check that the appliance and the tools are functioning properly. Never work with damaged or blunt tools. • Have your power tools repaired only by a qualified person. Request genuine replacement parts to ensure the safety of the power tool. • Unplug the plug from the socket and/or remove the battery pack from the tool before adjusting the settings of your appliance and before changing parts. Accidentally restarting power tools can cause accidents. • Position the machine table correctly before installing the power tool. Safe mounting of the table is essential to prevent it from collapsing. • Do not process any materials other than wood or easily workable plastics. Exception: it is permitted to process easily workable metals (such as aluminum), but only with a jigsaw and a suitable saw blade. • Loose splinters, chips and similar residue in the area near an active saw blade must not be removed by hand! • The machine being used must comply with DIN EN 60745-1. Equipment manufactured after 1995 must bear a CE mark. • Use the tools only for their intended purpose. • Check regularly that all screws are securely tightened! • Never use your workbench in an unsuitable manner or for purposes other than those intended! • Remove all unnecessary objects from the workbench. • Do not use the machine for cutting firewood. • Use the vacuum cleaner of your manual circular saw. • Do not adapt the guide bar to use another machine on the rails. • Ensure that the saw blade is always parallel to the carriage or guide bar. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR CIRCULAR SAWS • In addition to these machine-specific safety instructions, the safety instructions for the manual circular saw you are using must also be followed. • Use only wedge-type hand circular saws with a maximum blade diameter of 200 mm and a maximum cutting depth of 66 mm. • Use only saws within the maximum base plate dimensions stated above (see Fig. 5). • Support long workpieces on the side of removal so that the piece is in a horizontal position; for example, use a wolfcraft roller saw (Art. No. 6119973). • Avoid overloading the hand circular saw. • Do not use sanding discs. • Use only recommended marking saw blades and select them based on the material to be cut. • DANGER: Keep hands out of the cutting area and away from the saw blade. • Always be aware that the workpiece can kickback and strike the operator. • Kickback is the result of improper saw use and/or application. It can be avoided by taking appropriate precautions as described below. • Hold the saw firmly with both hands and position your arms correctly to absorb kickback. Always stand to the side of the blade; never line your body up with the blade. In the event of kickback, a circular saw can bounce backward; the operator should be able to control such a situation by taking appropriate precautions. • If the blade jams or you interrupt your work, always turn the saw off and hold it in the material until the blade has stopped rotating completely. Never attempt to remove the saw from the workpiece or pull it backward while the blade is still rotating, as this can result in kickback. Determine the reason for the jam and eliminate the cause. • To restart a saw that is still in the workpiece, center the blade in the opening and check whether the saw teeth are engaged in the workpiece. If the blade jams, it may free itself from the workpiece or cause kickback when the saw is restarted. • Support larger panels to minimize the risk of kickback from a blocked saw blade. Large panels can bend under their own weight. Panels should be supported on both sides, both near the saw and at the sides. • Do not use dull or damaged saw blades. Blades with dull or unsuitable teeth increase friction in the narrow cutting gap, which can cause the blade to jam and kickback. • Use extra caution when cutting into walls or other concealed areas. The cutting blade can be blocked by hidden objects, causing kickback.
