***Formed in 1977, the Cheltenham-based band Hardware drew inspiration from proto-punk, Krautrock, the CBGBs scene, Pere Ubu, and the more adventurous side of the UK punk scene, and released two 7-inch EPs in 1979 on their own record label, N.A.R.C. (Not Another Record Company). They mainly played in Gloucestershire, with some London gigs supporting Killing Joke. They received airplay from John Peel and received a positive review from Paul Morley in the NME. However, the band broke up before they could release a full-length album, and some of the members ended up in the noted post-punk band Pigbag. This record compiles all of their studio tracks, including the two EPs and two songs from an unreleased third single.
