His infamy & formidable occult knowledge (he became leader of the Golden Dawn*, a magical sect that survives to this day) have been a massive influence on what is now called ‘New Age’ philosophy. His excessive use of drugs, particularly opiates & hashish, greatly influenced the culture of drug-experimentation & pychedelia in the 1960s.
