Vintage 1940s Wedding Dress Ivory Damask Long Sleeves / Small
Exquisite dress with a dramatic train, puffed shoulders and long, fitted sleeves with buttons at the inner arm. Features a ruched bodice with a central point at the empire chest line. Note the exquisite floral print of cream on cream damask on the satin. Wedding fashion was evolving significantly in the 1940s when wartime weddings became rapid affairs, and brides began using DIY techniques, sometimes using curtains for veils and furniture upholstery for dresses, which this might very well be!
It closes with a long line of buttons at center of rear. Unlined.
Label: La Rose. 6033 CERMAK ROAD CICERO (Chicago)
Fabric: no tag looks and feels like a rayon with a damask texture
Size tag: none / fits like a small / see exact measurements below to ensure fit
Condition: very good with only a few small issues: a few of the buttons at the bottom row at the rear show some brown staining from rust. Easily replaced. If you lay the train out flat and look in direct sunlight, you will find a few small stains in light yellow. Very hard to see and likely to come out in a professional cleaning. Otherwise surprisingly clean for a gown this age and color!
