The Yampa River runs by Colorado's mountain community of Steamboat Springs. The scene depicted in this painting was mostly made up, but I painted it after a recent trip to Steamboat. Memories of the quiet alpine landscapes in the mountains above the Yampa and Steamboat were top of mind during the time that I was working on the piece. I was particularly struck by the sight of a large modern home in the aspen-laden hillsides around the nearby Strawberry Hot Springs, both a little envious of the people who get to live in the quiet up there, and slightly perturbed that the pristine views of this area were distinctly broken by the imposing structure.

The original was painted with oil, acrylic, oil pastel, gouache, and charcoal on linen (pictured in the last listing image)

- All of my prints are produced with professional art materials including pigment-based inks and archival Somerset Velvet fine art paper. 
-In order to keep your print in great condition it is important to frame with archival materials (mats, backing board, etc.), keep out of direct sunlight, and UV glass if you really want to go all-out!

SIZE:

- Paper is larger than the listed size, as there is a ~1.25" white border around the actual image to enable easier matting, or float mounting to display the deckled edges of the paper.
- Image itself is shrunk down ~1/4" from size listed to expose signature line when matted or framed in the corresponding standard sized mat/frame.
