Smokey Robinson is an American R +B singer/songwriter, record-producer & former record-executive. He was the founder & front man of the popular Motown vocal-group The Miracles. He led the group from their origins in 1955 as The Five Chimes until 1972 when he announced his retirement. He had wanted to focus on his role as Motown’s vice-president. Robinson returned to music a year later as a solo-artist. He went on to produce hits such as ‘Baby That’s Backatcha’, ‘Cruisin’, ‘Being With You’ & ‘Just To See Her’. In 1990 he left Motown following it’s’ sale in 1988. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 & the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 1989.
