Shigenobu Nakamura continues to create a vast body of work, including four symphonies, and is active in a wide range of compositional activities. His musical works that incorporate visual elements into their compositions stand out in particular, and his active application of computers to the connection of visual and aural elements has created the genre of "music-based media art," which has attracted much attention.
