Background: One of the enzymes of the urea cycle, the metabolic pathway transforming neurotoxic amonia produced by protein catabolism into inocuous urea in the liver of ureotelic animals. Catalyzes the formation of arginosuccinate from aspartate, citrulline and ATP and together with ASL it is responsible for the biosynthesis of arginine in most body tissues.

Purification and Purity: Protein affinity purified.

Specificity: ASS1 monoclonal antibody detects endogenous levels of ASS1 protein.

Extra Notes: Western blot analysis of ASS1 on HepG2 (1) and SiHa (2) cell lysate using anti-ASS1 antibody at 1/1,000 dilution., ICC staining ASS1 (green) in MCF-7 cells. The nuclear counter stain is DAPI (blue). Cells were fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilised with 0.25% Triton X100/PBS.
