This abstract bamboo print, early 1960s silk cheongsam dress has very high side slits show off your stems, or add a fitted capri pant underneath for a chic, mid-century tunic look. It would also be lovely worn over a fitted skirt, or even modern leggings! The dress has classic elements, including a high band collar, a decorative (non-functional), diagonal button-front bodice, short sleeves, darts for shaping the hourglass silhouette, and the aforementioned high side slits. The lightweight silk fabric is lined with gold acetate taffeta. Although the faux button-front echoes cheongsam or qipao style dresses, this Western-made version actually fastens in back with a metal zipper. Dating to approximately the first half of the 1960s, the dress is in excellent to mint condition.
